Dassault Systèmes, a global giant in 3D design software, Digital Mock Up and Product Lifecycle Management solutions, organized its 3DExperience Forum 2017 in Bangalore, attracting the attention of the Indian manufacturing sector including of automotive and aerospace.

While highlighting the digitalization as the future of the Indian industries, the forum has demonstrated its various solutions offered in multiple sectors.

The 3DExperience Forum 2017 India included extended discussions and perspectives on digitalization being a key growth driver for industries as well as the economy.

It demonstrated the power of Digital Manufacturing in enhancing operations including Digital Continuity from design to manufacturing, be it on premise or on cloud, in accelerating Internet of Experiences in Industrial Manufacturing and in propagating the latest technologies like Additive Manufacturing for customized requirement across industries.

Digitalization will have significant impact on the macroeconomic forces in the country. The Indian manufacturing sector is on the verge of digital transformation looking to scale up and move up the value chain, Charles said.

This will create significant demand for skilled workforce and new employability benchmarks in the industry. Secondly, digitalization will also push traditional asset based industries like energy and natural resources to modernize processes to compete globally and locally. Thirdly, the life of a billion people (as citizens and as consumers) will evolve with smarter cities and smarter consumer experiences.

During her presentation, Monica Menghini, Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer Dassault Systèmes, “In today’s hyper-fast, hyper-connected world, how can businesses simultaneously understand what consumers want, manage product complexity, transform business models and coordinate activities within their own organizations? In the event, the professional participants have attended the breakout tracks focused on Transportation & Mobility, Aerospace & Defence, Energy Process & Utilities, Mining & Natural Resources and Academia. They also experience the power of technology at the 3DEXPERIENCE PLAYGROUND.

During 3DExperience Forum, Dassault Systemes has also announced the commencement of the first and second batch of the Aerospace and Defense Centre of Excellence (CoE).

The 3D design software major also plans to launch an advanced course of four months on overall Aircraft Design and Development process, Structural Engineering and Equipment Engineering.

Addressing a media conference, Samson Khaou, Managing Director, Dassault Systemes India, along with his other colleagues participated in the event , said, “India is expected to emerge as the world’s third largest aviation market by 2020 and there will be a significant demand for skilled workforce in Aerospace R&D, manufacturing, assembling, maintenance, warehousing and training facilities.”

The CoE was set up at Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) in association with the Karnataka government.

In February, Karnataka Biotechnology and Information Technology Services (KBITS), a state government enterprise, and Dassault Systemes signed a Memorandum of Understanding in this regard, aimed at increasing the employability of students and the professional skills of the aerospace industry in the country.

Speaking to Automotive India News on the sidelines of the forum, Olivier Sappin, Vice President, Transportation & Mobility Industry, Dassault Systèmes, said, “Dassault Systemes earn around 30% of its global revenue from the automotive sector. The percentage of automotive share in India is more. Around 50% of its Indian revenue comes from the automobile segment.”

Indian automotive sector has been growing and the government’s initiatives like “Make-in-India” is attracting more investments to the country. Dassualt Systemes too has been keep investing in the automobile sector in India.

He cited Ashok Leyland as one of the company’s major customers in India.

All most all OEMs and Tier 1s uses the solutions of Dassault, he added.

Sappin also explained about the ‘Virtual Garage’ concept that is catching up in the developed markets like European countries.

Virtual Garage for auto showrooms lets customers configure their vehicle of choice in a showroom setting using a Point of Sale (POS) configurator, and then extends the in-store brand and product experience across all buying touch points. Consumers can experience the entire product range in all variants, in a highly interactive setting and with incredible level of detail and realism.
