Dr Timothy (Tim) Leverton, the man who rejuvenated the passenger vehicles line-up for Tata Motors as its President and Chief Technical Officer has resigned from the company.
Tata Motors, in a statement, said Tim has decided to disengage from his services in the organization as he wishes to relocate back to UK for personal reasons.
Dr. Leverton has been with Tata Motors since past seven years working out of the Tata Motors Engineering Research Centre in Pune.
Guenter Butschek, CEO & MD, Tata Motors said, ”Tim has actively led the research and development initiatives of Tata Motors and we thank him for his invaluable contribution.”.
Tata Motors’ announcement on Monday came as a surprise to many people in the automotive industry, which is eager to know the successor to Leverton. Tim was responsible for upgrading the new product launch process at Tata Motors. During his tenure, the perceived quality levels of products witnessed a transformation.
In addition to giving a fillip to Tata Motors by refurbishing Indica (X0) and Vista (X1) platform, it was during his tenure the company mooted a modular architecture that will form the basis of future product line up of Tata Motors.
