Hero MotoCorp’s April sales slipped on slump in motorcycle sales in a few key rural markets
Indian two wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp April 2015 sales tumbled by 6.61 percent to 5, 33,305 units compared to its sales of 5,71,054 units in the same period last year.
The world largest two wheeler maker said it witnessed dip in sales as the demand for automotive products in rural segment adversely impacted due unseasonal rains reported in the month of March.
Hero MotoCorp claimed that poor agricultural crop output and a slowdown in rural wages have dragged down the rural economy, which turn impacted the automobile retail purchases in the markets like Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and sugarcane cultivated zones of Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra,” the company said in a statement.
The two wheeler maker, in April 2015, has made announcement of recently launched ‘Splendor iSmart’ motorcycle delivering record mileage. As per the March, 2015 fuel efficiency values, the Splendor iSmart recorded a mileage of 102.50 km/l of gasoline, reporting a new global benchmark in fuel efficiency.
