Hyundai India domestic sales witnessed appreciable growth while its overseas shipments tumbled in August 2015.
Hyundai Motor India, the country’s second largest car maker and the largest auto exporter witnessed 13.5 percent year-on-year jump in sales at 54,608 units in August 2015 compared to 48,111 cars sold in the same month a year ago.
The company registered highest-ever sales in the domestic market at 40,505 units in August 2015, up by 20 percent from 33,750 units sold in the corresponding period in the previous year. Hyundai India’s exports declined by 1.8 percent to 14,103 units from 14,361 during the period.
Sharing details on August month sales, Rakesh Srivastava, Senior Vice President – Sales and Marketing, Hyundai Motor India , said, “Hyundai recorded highest-ever single month sales in August 2015 on the back of strong youthful product portfolio. The newly launched SUV CRETA, i20 Active and Elite i20 had sales volumes of more than 17,800 units.
In long term, he said that Hyundai India is looking to sustain double digit growth above the industry growth rate by increasing market share in the Indian passenger vehicle segment.
