LeEco, Daimler to join hands to develop smart electric vehicles

China-headquartered multinational internet technology major LeEco  is  expected to join hands with the global auto giant Daimler AG, parent company of Mercedes-Benz to explore opportunities in the area of smart electric vehicle.

Top executives of Daimler AG visited LeEco on March 1 to discuss the possibility of cooperation or even partnership. Both Daimler and LeEco have agreed that internet-based electric vehicle will dominate the future of automotive market.

It may be noted that LeEco has recently announced its partnership with luxury car maker Aston Martin to develop an electric vehicle concept.

In the past one year, apart from Aston Martin, LeEco has teamed up with the electric car start-up Faraday Future and Beijing Automotive Group.

Now Daimler’s top officials visiting LeEco has created high expectations in the smart electric car industry across the world.

Liu Hong, co-founder and COO of LeEco and Ding Lei, co-founder of LeEco Super Car and Global vice president of LeEco received Hubertus Troska, Chairman and CEO of Daimler Greater China and Prof. Hans Georg Engel, the head of Daimler’s Chinese R&D facilities in LeEco’s Beijing headquarter.

The top rung officials of LeEco and Daimler have discussed about possible cooperation on electric car power system, car-sharing project, smart-driving and O2O etc.

Hubertus TroskaHubertus Troska spoke highly of LeEco’s SEE plan and indicated that electric, smart, socialized and internet-connected vehicles will dominate the automobile industry in the near future. He has shown keen interest in the Super Electric Ecosystem (SEE) plan and LeEco’s integrated and open Ecosystem.

As a traditional auto company,  Troska said Benz has realized the coming of the “new world”, a world with electric, smart, socialized and internet-based car.

Ding Lei said that user requirements will command the landscape of future automotive industry and LeEco has been attaching great importance to an open Ecosystem and the company is very open to partnership opportunities.

LeEco’s founder Jia Yueting had announced the company’s electric car plan – the SEE plan in December 2014. Based on of the comprehensive Le Ecosystem, the SEE Plan highlights the development of internet-connected, intelligent electric vehicles and open automotive ecosystems, and has attracted heavy attention in global automobile industry.

Jia Yueting, Founder and CEO of Le Holdings announced that LeEco’s first concept Super Car will be showcased in the forthcoming automobile exhibition in Beijing.
