India’s largest vehicle maker Maruti Suzuki India that witnessed a 4.4 percent sales decline in December 2016 has bounced back in January 2017.
Maruti Suzuki’s domestic sales surged by 25.7 percent to 133,768 units in January 2017 from 106,383 vehicles sold in the same month a year ago.
Its popular vehicles Alto and Wagon R, sold 37,928 units in January 2017, up 10.9 percent year-on-year from 34,206 units sold in January 2016.
Sales of the six compact cars comprising the pack of Swift, Ritz, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno and Dzire recorded 25.2 percent growth at 55,817 units in January 2017, up from 44,575 vehicles in the same month a year ago.
The sales of Dzire Tour, which is being sold only as taxi, declined by 15.3 percent to 3,001 units from 3,545 vehicles.
The premium sedan Ciaz was bought by 6,530 buyers, up 20.2 percent against January 2016 sales of 5,431 units.
The two vans – Omni and Eeco – have given a boost to overall sales figures numbers with sales of 14,179 vehicles, up 35 percent as compared to January 2016 sales of 10,512 units.
Total UV sales (Gypsy, Ertiga, S-Cross, Vitara Brezza) increased by 101 percent year-on-year to 14,179 units from 10,512 vehicles.
