Generally the warranty on engine is covered by the vehicle makers as package of vehicle warranty. For the Indian car owners, it would a surprising news on an oil company offering warranty on engine. In a customer-centric offer, Shell India is offering 15-year warranty on the engines, which are using its select motor oils.
Shell India, the subsidiary of global oil giant Shell Lubricants, said it is offering 15-year warranty for the engines that are using its Shell Helix Ultra motor oil. The company has launched its Shell Helix Ultra, a motor lubricant produced from natural gas, in India last year. Shell has been producing this motor oil from natural gas by using its Shell PurePlus Technology, an unique gas-to-liquid technology that converts natural gas into a pure motor oil.
Under Shell Helix Ultra Lifetime Engine Warranty, Shell India offers engine warranty for upto 15 years or 100,000 kms. This scheme is applicable to the customers, whose cars are registered in India. The warranty will cover the lubricant-related engine faults. The oil company is also offering a 5-year warranty for the engines using its Shell Helix HX7 brand motor oil. The vehicle owners using both Helix HX7 and Helix Ultra brand oils can avail this engine warranty scheme at free of cost by registering on the company’s life time engine warranty website
In a press statement, Shell claims it is the first of its kind offer and is the only company in India offering engine warranty on using company oil.
Nitin Prasad, MD of Shell Lubricants India, said, “We are the first and only lubricant producer launching an engine warranty for car owners in India. The company is so confident on the performance of Helix Ultra and decided to offer consumers this warranty proposition.”
Shell’s engine warranty that covers 13 engine components commences 30 days or 1000 kms run after registering with the company and the car owners should enroll their vehicles within 60 days from the purchase.
