Tata TIGOR expected to boost Tata’s market share in Karnataka

Tata Motors official said the newly launched Tata TIGOR, India’s first StyleBack, will help the company to increase its market share in Karnataka.

Karnataka is one among the top markets for Tata passenger vehicles. The company gets around 7 percent of its total sales from Karnataka. Also Tata Motors is in the list of top four vehicle sellers in the state.

“We expect Tata TIGOR along with Tata Tiago and Tata Hexa will further trigger up the sales in Karnataka “ told Vivek Srivatsa, Head – Marketing, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors  to Automotive India News after launching Tata TIGOR in Bangalore today.

He said the company is manufacturing Tata TIGOR at its Sanand production plant in Gujarat. The plant has an installed capacity to produce 2 lakh vehicles.

Already Tata Motors is manufacturing around 75,000 units of Tiago and Nano vehicles at its Sanand plant. Now with Tata TIGOR added to production, the capacity utilization will increase considerably. But he did not give any timeline on when the company will utilize the full production capacity at Sanand plant.

Tata Motors is selling 5000 units of Tiago and 2000 Zest every month. Premium hatchback and Sedan segment size in India stands at 60,000 units a month. The company has expecting a considerable market share in this segment with the launch of  Tata TIGOR.

Tata TIGOR is pitched at a starting price of Rs 4.85 lakh for the Revotron 1.2L (petrol) variant and Rs 5.77 lakh for the Revotorq 1.05L (diesel) variant, ex-showroom Bangalore.
