Audi RS 6 Avant drives into India with Rs 1.35 Cr price tag

Audi has been giving brutal competition to its arch rivals Mercedes-Benz and BMW in the Indian premium car segment. The launch of Audi RS 6 Avant is expected to further intensify the competition in the luxury car market in India.

Audi India, the wholly owned subsidiary of the luxury car maker Audi AG, has launched its sportscar Audi RS 6 Avant in India today.

The Audi RS 6 Avant is the first sports car to be launched in the Indian market with an Avant body style.

Audi India has fixed a price tag of Rs 1,35,00,750 (ex-showroom New Delhi and Mumbai) for the latest addition, the RS 6 Avant, into its sports car line up in India. The car will be available at all Audi’s showrooms across India.

Launching the Audi RS 6 Avant, Joe King, Head, Audi India said “The Audi RS 6 Avant is Audi’s fourth sports car launched in India in the current year. The Audi RS 6 Avant will help us consolidate our leadership position in the Indian performance car segment while also inspiring us to bring right product offering at the right time,“

Indian cricketer Virat Kohli, who owns several Audi cars in India, accompanied Joe King during the launch of the new car.

Already this year, Audi India has launched three other sports cars – the R8 LMX, the new RS 7 Sportback and the new TT Coupé – in the Indian performance car market.

The latest addition, the Audi RS 6 Avant comes in 10 colours including a Matt finish colour and nine standard shades.

The Audi RS 6 Avant is fitted with a 4.0 TFSI Bi-turbo V8 engine that displaces 3,993 cc and produces 560 hp and is projected as the car with racing technology for high performance while also suiting for daily use.

The RS 6 Avant can touch 100 km/h speed in a just 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 305 km/h with optional Dynamic Package Plus.

In recent past, Audi has been giving brutal competition to its arch rivals in the luxury car segment like Mercedes-Benz and BMW in India. In the financial year 2014-15, Audi India reported sales of 11,292 units, recording year-on-year growth of 11.51 percent from the previous fiscal, overtaking Mercedes-Benz to the top spot. Audi India sold 79 units more than Mercedes-Benz in the past fiscal to achieve the No 1 slot.

The launch of Audi RS 6 Avant is expected to further intensify the competition in the Indian luxury car segment.
