Increasing trade interest in the automotive aftermarket sector reflected in Automechanika Dubai 2015 as the show attracted visitors from 130 countries.
Automechanika Dubai 2015, the largest automotive aftermarket trade show in the Middle East and African region, created a new record this year in attracting visitors. The three-day international trade show of Automechanika Dubai 2015 attracted 30,835 visitors.
In its 13 years history, this is the first time that Automechanika Dubai edition has crossed the mark of 30,000 visitors.
The trade event management company Mess Frankfurt Middle East, which organized the international expo, said the automotive aftermarket show attracted visitors from 130 countries. The visitors in the 2015 edition of Automechanika Dubai increased by 7 percent year-on-year.
In a statement, Messe Frankfurt said the trade show saw the participation of 1,889 exhibitors from 59 countries and occupied 17 per cent more exhibition space compared to the space occupied in 2014.
Automechanika Dubai 2015 that was held from June 2 to 4 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre reflected the increasing auto trade interest in Dubai.
According to the statistics released by Dubai Customs, the value of auto parts and accessories trade in Dubai stood at $ 12 billion in 2014, up by 10 percent compared to the previous year. The trade figure covers both imports and exports of auto components and vehicle accessories.

The imports stood at $ 7 billion last year, while exports and re-exports clocked $ 5 billion in 2014, showing Dubai’s status as a major liaison destination between the manufacturing countries in Asia, Europe and North American region and consuming regional markets.
Ahmed Pauwels, Chief Executive Officer, Messe Frankfurt Middle East, said: “The double digit growth of automotive parts trade in Dubai underlines the Emirate’s key role as an important gateway to emerging markets.”
Automechanika Dubai paved way for the aftermarket companies to show case their products under six categories like Parts & Components and Systems & Electronics, Tyres and Batteries, Accessories and Tuning, Repair and Maintenance and Service Station & Car Wash.
As many as 1,340 exhibitors showcased their products in Parts & Components and System & Electronics category while the Tyres & Batteries section witnessed the participation of 190 exhibitors and 166 companies exhibited their products under Accessories & Tuning category, 109 exhibitors under Repair & Maintenance and 84 companies participated under Service Station and Car Wash section.
Several global companies in the aftermarket business made important announcements during the show. The UAE-based ENOC said it has opened a 5,000 square meters lubricants and grease production facility in Dubai in addition to its existing plant in Fujairah.
Mohammed El Sadek, Director, Lubricant Division, ENOC said that both the plants will have an annual production capacity of 300,000 metric tonnes with most of the volumes will be shipped to more than 60 countries.
Further EI Sadek said the UAE is the largest hub for manufacturing of lubricants in the Middle East with an annual production of around 1.5 million metric tonnes. Of the total production, he said around 200,000 metric tonnes has been used in the domestic market while the remaining 1.3 million metric tonnes of manufacturing lubricants is being shipped out to the countries in Asia, Africa and the sub-continent.
Messe Frankfurt has announced that the 14 th edition of Automechanika will be held May 8-10, 2016 at the same Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
