
Bosch has been investing in India in multiple sectors including automotive since several years. The company’s new plant is coming up at Bidadi Industrial Estate on the outskirts of Bangalore.
German automotive component giant Bosch said it will inaugurate its new manufacturing facility near Bangalore in the third quarter of this financial year.
The company is setting up its new production plant at Bidadi industrial estate near Bangalore to shift some of its manufacturing operations from its existing facilities inside the city.
Currently the company has its production facilities in Adugodi, the central part of Bangalore city and Naganathapura, which is on the outskirts of the city.
The company disclosed about the status of its upcoming Bidadi plant during the media conference addressed today by Dr Steffen Berns, Managing Director Bosch Ltd, in Bangalore. Berns was briefing about the details of the company’s performance for the financial year 2014-15.
During the financial year under review, the company had set up three manufacturing units, one in Bidadi near Bangalore (Diesel Systems) and another two in Gangaikondan for Gasoline Systems and Chennai for Power Tools. The Bidadi facility will be inaugurated in the third quarter of 2015. In total, the company’s capital investment in 2014 stood at Rs 500 crore. The European auto component major has planned to further pump in investments to the tune of Rs 650 crore in 2015. The company has been continuously investing in the Indian market since several years in multiple sectors including automotive.
According to Berns, the company’s mobility solutions sector witnessed a growth of 7.4 percent in April 2014-March2015 period, outperforming the automotive market that recorded a growth of 3.5 percent. In mobility solutions unit, diesel and gasoline segments contributed appreciable business while the diesel division grew to 10 percent. The petrol division registered a double digit growth.
In the past one year, the company has added 300 news distributors in the automotive aftermarket segment to expand its sales network in the Indian aftermarket sector.
Bosch has been operating in India through nine entities including Bosch Ltd, which is a flagship company of the group and listed on Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
