Hyundai Motor India is rescheduling the Creta launch to meet festival demand and compete with upcoming Maruti S-Cross.

Hyundai Motor India has advanced the launch of its compact SUV Creta in a bid to meet the vehicle demand in the ensuing festival season in India, starting from Ganesh Chathurthi.

The original plan of the South Korean car maker was to launch the Creta sometime in August, but the company wants to reschedule the launch time due to multiple reasons including the upcoming festival season, the company sources told Automotive India News.

The sources closed to development indicated that the company will launch its small sports utility vehicle Creta on July 21, 2015.

Another major reason for Hyundai India launching the Creta before the scheduled time is to give brutal competition to its arch rival Maruti Suzuki in the compact SUV segment. Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch its Maruti S-Cross in the next month, a Hyundai official told requesting anonymity.

On June 2, 2015, Hyundai Motor India, which is also the largest passenger car exporter in India, announced the name of its new SUV as ‘Creta’ while noting that the global roll-out of Creta will commence in the second half of 2015 in India. After the global launch in India, the company will drive the Creta into other world markets. The South Korean car maker has decided to use the Creta name for all its overseas markets across the world.

The South Korean car company is taking all-time efforts to overtake Maruti Suzuki in the Indian automotive industry by introducing new products and pumping in more investments to expand its all over activities in India.  Entering into the compact SUV segment with the Creta is also seen as one of its strategies to increase sales volumes in India.

The Creta, which is expected to have advanced connected-car applications including latest infotainment and other dashboard technologies, is gearing up to give brutal competition to the popular models in the SUV segment like Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano.

On the technical specification, the Creta will be built on Hyundai’s Fluidic Design Sculpture 2.0 and the company will provide both gasoline and diesel engine options for its customers. The price of the Creta is likely to be in the range of Rs 8.5 lakh to Rs 11.5 lakh.
