Scania India bats for alternate fuel, showcases Green Bus at ICEPT 2015

Scania India’s ethanol-driven Green Bus & premium Metrolink Buses at ICEPT 2015

Scania India was the first commercial vehicle maker to introduce ethanol powered Green Bus in the country in Nagpur.

Scania Commercial Vehicles India (SCVI), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Swedish commercial vehicle maker Scania, showcased its ethanol-driven Green Bus and premium Metrolink intercity buses at the International Conference on Public Transport Innovation (ICEPT 2015) in New Delhi today.

Anders Grundströmer, Managing Director, SCVI and Senior Vice President, Scania Group, co-chaired the session, “Smart Vehicle Technologies & Alternate Fuels” and also spoke under the title “Sustainable Public Road Transport – Challenges & Future Road Map”.

Grundströmer said the company has its presence in India since 2007 and is very keen in bringing sustainable transport systems in the country. Being a pioneer in offering bio-fuel solutions, he said Scania introduced its first ethanol powered bus in Sweden more than two decades ago.

Continuing its legacy in the eco-friendy transport system, Scania India launched its ethanol fuelled “Green Bus” in Nagpur. Scania was the first commercial vehicle maker to introduce ethanol powered Green Bus in the country on August 22, 2014 in Nagpur.

Detailing on Scania’s participation at ICEPT 2015, Grundströmer said, “It is a very ambitious initiative by ASRTU to host an international conference to promote latest technology and trends in public transport and create awareness on sustainable transport system in India.”

Scania is always working to minimize the environmental impact by their products, both while manufacturing and during usage.
