Tata Motors struggled to report good numbers in August 2015 due to sluggish momentum in the Indian LCV and SCV market.
India’s commercial vehicle giant Tata Motors sold 40,680 vehicles in 2015 compared to 40,883 vehicles units sold in the same month a year ago.
Its passenger cars (excluding UV’s), Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicle (M&HCV) and Exports division of the company fared well during the month while its Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) and Small Commercial Vehicle (SCV) division has put breaks on its sales growth.
Its passenger car business division surged year-on-year by 19 percent while M&HCV segment increased by 31 percent and exports grew by 16 percent.
In August 2015, passenger vehicle sales by Tata Motors recorded a year-on-year growth of 2 percent at 11,194 units as against 10,975 vehicles.
The passenger car sales stood at 9,814 units, up from 8,229 vehicles while utility vehicle sales tumbled by 50 percent to 1,380 units. The M&HCV sales jumped to 12,017 units in August 2015.
The LCV & SCV sales declined to12,267 vehicles. The sluggish sales in LCV & SCV division has impacted the overall performance of its commercial vehicle section as its CV division’s sales tumbled by 4 percent to 24,284 units.
The company’s overseas shipments stood at 5,202 units in August 2015, up by 16 percent from 4,480 vehicles exported in the same month a year ago.
