In order to take raising competition in the Indian Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) segment, Tata Motors has upgraded its premium SUV Tata Safari Storme and launched with a price tag of Rs 9.9 lakh
Tata Motors has launched its upgraded version of Tata Safari Storme after adding several latest features including connected car and infotainment package from car connectivity and infotainment specialist Harman.
The company has fixed a price of Rs 9.9 lakh for the new Safari Storme (ex-showroom Delhi).
On the lines of its ConnectNext principle, the vehicle maker has fitted fully integrated next generation infotainment system designed and developed by Harman. The aim of Tata Motors’ ConnectNext concept is to offer a completely new level of driving and ownership experience to its customers with more connectivity options in the car.
Since its entry into India in 2009, Harman is working with Tata Motors to explore new car connectivity features. Both the companies have entered into partnership in 2012 to develop unique infotainment and acoustics package for the cars manufactured by Tata Motors.
Already Harman has powered other Tata Motors cars like mid-level sedan Zest with its next generation infotainment system, which was developed by Harman’s Research and Development Centres in Pune and Bangalore in India with the support of engineers at its global centres in Shanghai, China and Germany.
The infotainment system fitted in the new Safari Strome is unique in the segment with features like Bluetooth connectivity, iPod-in, LCD screen, USB-in and AUX-in in addition to a CD and AM-FM player. Tata Motors’ ConnectNext package also offers best-in-class acoustic experience with six speakers (by Harman), with other contemporary features like steering mounted controls enabling customers to stay connected at all times.
Speaking on the new Safari Strome, Girish Wagh, Senior VP, Programme, Planning and Project Management, Passenger Vehicles Business Unit in Tata Motors, said, “The Tata Safari, as India’s first SUV, has constantly evolved catering to varied requirements of buyer, inspiring them to not only think big, but to also adventure. The refined Tata Safari Storme delivers a performance of 0-100 km/hr in 14 seconds.
The new VARICOR engine delivers 150 PS Power & 320 NM Torque, offering comfort driving experience, swifter response while reducing Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH). The 4×4 variant features electronic shift-on-fly (ESOF) technology.
The vehicles is available with four variants and five colour options – Arctic White, Arctic Silver, Pearl White, Urban Bronze and Astern Black. The new Safari Storme also covers a warranty of three years or 1,00,000 kms, whichever is earlier. The warranty package is extendable upto four years or 1,50,000 kms.
