Exports shoots up TVS Motor sales in May by 6%

TVS Motor reports a growth of 6 percent in overall vehicle sales in May 2015, primarily boosted by increasing demand for its vehicles in overseas markets.

Indian two wheeler major TVS Motor company witnessed a growth of 6 percent in sales in May 2015 with its total sales surging to 2,20,079 units from the recorded figure of 206,813 units in May 2014. The two wheeler maker ‘s sales growth comes on the back of raising demand for its vehicles in overseas markets.

The company’s total vehicle exports for the month of May 2015 increased by 22 percent to 43,595 units from 35,649 units shipped in May 2014. Its two wheeler shipment surged by 27 percent to 35,310 units in May 2015 from 27,780 units in May 2014.

In total, the company’s two wheeler sales climbed by 7 percent to 210,843 units in May 2015 from 197,451 units sold in the same period a year ago. TVS Motor sold 175,533 two wheelers in the domestic market in May 2015, up by 3 percent compared to 169,671 units sold in the same month in 2014.

The company’s scooters sales registered a growth of 7 percent at 54,426 units in the month of May 2015, up from 51,010 scooters sold in May 2014. In the same period, its motorcycles sales jumped by 8 percent touching 91,344 units, up from 84,660 units .

The company sold 9,236 units of three wheelers in May 2015 compared to 9,362 units of three wheelers it sold in May 2014.

In May 2015, it achieved a milestone by crossing 5,00,000 mark in sales of its flagship scooter TVS Jupiter. The company achieved this record within 18 month of the launch of Jupiter scooter. It may be noted that the company has crossed Rs 10,000 crore revenue mark in the financial year 2014-15 by witnessing revenue of Rs 10,098 crore.

Its international product range include Apache 180, Max 100, Star LX, Metro Plus, Scooty Zest, Star Sport, Scooty Streak, Wego and TVS Jive.
